"Before The Turtle Dance"

25" x 48"   Oil on board   $3000

It's New Year's Day, not long after sunrise. The temperature hovers around freezing. The dancers emerge from a kiva at the South Complex and walk toward the plaza. The turtle shell rattles around their knees making noise with each step. The Dance is named for the turtle, believed to be the first hibernating creature to stir in the new year.
